The following is a guide for purchasing uniforms and equipment recommended by the B.G.H.G.

Officer’s and Senior NCOs Uniform Requirements-

Frock Coat or Officer’s Sack Coat w/Eagle ‘I’ buttons

Sky-Blue Trousers (optional w/Infantry Blue stripe) or Navy Blue Trousers

Blue Kepi with Brass or Embroider Bugle or ‘39’ Numerical Insignia or Felt Hat (Black) w/ Blue Hat Cord and Eagle Hat Pin or Regulation Officer’s Kepi with embroidered bugle patch.

Preferred: Jefferson Brogans  with Smooth-side Leather

Optional: Artillery Boots

One pair, Canvas or Tarred Leggings

One Regulation White Muslin Shirt (May have Homespun for other Shirts)

Wool Socks

Muslin Underwear (Optional)

Rank Shoulder Boards (NCO Chevrons)

Maroon Sash (Officer) Red Sash (NCO) (Optional)

- Officer’s Armament and Accoutrements -

Sword Belt w/U.S. Eagle or Kentucky State Seal Double Belt Plate.

Infantry Officer’s Sword

Holster Pistol Cartridge Box Spare Cylinder Box 1858 Remington Revolver Officers) or any revolver appropriate to the Civil War Historical Period.

Two Spare Cylinders (Optional)

Canteen with Taupe Covering preferred

Meechum Haversack preferred. Common Canvas Haversack acceptable
